Try Out These Awesome Puppy Training Tips!

There are many worthwhile benefits to putting your dog through obedience training. Not only does the canine benefit, but so does the pet's owner. The following article will offer many tips and techniques associated with canine training. Both you and your dog will enjoy this.

Set a schedule and routine for feeding your dog from the very beginning of your relationship. Your dog should be fed at the same time everyday and they should only have a certain amount of time to eat. This will ensure he eats it all quickly instead of doddling or grazing all day.

Try to mistakenly avoid reinforcing any behaviors that are unwanted when doing dog training. Withhold treats and attention when your dog exhibits any undesirable behaviors. For example, don't rub your dog's head when they jump up at you and when you come in the door if you don't want them to jump.

It is very easy to teach a pooch to roll over as long as you have some tasty treats on hand. First, place your dog in the “down” position. Then, hold the treat over your dog's head and swipe it above and around his head, causing him to roll over. He should follow the treat with his nose, causing him to roll his whole body over. As he is rolling over say, “roll over” and praise them immediately when they do. Be persistent and do not give up; it might take a while but will be worth it once they learn it.

As you train dogs, it is necessary to utilize a consistent tone and volume when giving commands. This tone tells the dog that you mean business and that they need to obey. Good consistent tones also let your dog know when tones are sharp for discipline or for a command that is not punishment.

Positive Reinforcement

Positive reinforcement is an essential component of training your dog. Use a soft tone to let your dog know you are satisfied and give it some small treats too. You should never yell at your dog, or physically harm them. These are inneffective punishments and will only cause fear. Always be firm, be consistent and use positive reinforcement to make your dog understand what you want from it.

The first thing you should do when training a puppy is teach him to understand his name. Call him by name frequently, and teach him to come when called. Your dog should learn these items before any others as they're the most important. Spend a lot of time with your new puppy, so he will learn how to gain trust in you. Over time, the puppy will be able to learn more advanced training.

Try to limit the amount of accidents your dog has while toilet training. Learn to know the things your pet does when it needs to go. Pacing, whining and snuffling are common. Do not wait more than a couple of minutes. Head outdoors to the assigned potty spot right away. Give him praise for doing the right thing. Eventually, he will learn to ask to go out.

Consistency is the key to training. When you have a whole family in the house, they should all use the same training techniques. The dog will have an easier time learning if he has only one set of commands to learn and if he knows what response each behavior will receive.

There are numerous benefits to having a well-trained dog. When using the advice from the above article properly, you'll see that you can even have fun training your dog. You will both enjoy the time spent together learning as well as the many benefits of working together as a team.
