Training Sessions
Limit the duration of training sessions. Remember that a dog has a short attention span and cannot focus on one thing for too long. This is why you need to limit the time of your training sessions to around 10 minutes.
Try to incorporate play into your training sessions with your dog. A sense of play brings you and your dog together. This bond makes the dog more responsive to your commands and training him easier. Training is fun for the dog, but you should set aside some real “play time” as well.
Always make use of positive reinforcement when it comes to training your dog. Praise the dog with petting, upbeat words and the occasional treat when he does something right. You should not hit or yell at your dog. Doing this will cause your dog to act out even more and lose respect for you. Maintain a calm attitude anytime that your dog does wrong so that you can have a relationship o mutual respect with your dog.
If you pour too much information and training into your puppy, it will actually be counterproductive. Puppies have short attention spans, therefore keep your sessions short and provide ample amounts of praise. Overdoing it could cause them to forget what was learned, and they may see the training as negative; thus, making sessions harder for you later.
