Awesome Advice For Training Your Dog

Sometimes it may feel as though you brought home Cujo instead of Lassie! With some basic training, you can teach your dog to act better quicker.

Timing is of the utmost importance when it comes to training your dog, so make sure you spend lots of time training, but don't overdo it. Start small and build up a bit daily. End the session as soon as your dog's attention begins to stray.

Consistency is critical for crate training to succeed. Whenever you let your puppy out of the crate, he must be given the immediate chance to go potty. Eventually, the puppy will learn to wait to pee until given the opportunity.

You indicate that jumping up is an unacceptable behavior by grabbing the dogs paws, squeezing gently and guiding them back down to the ground. While this will not seriously hurt the animal, it is certainly unpleasant and therefore makes a powerful statement. They learn that if they want to avoid that discomfort, they need to refrain from jumping up.

Be sure to always grab your dog's attention the same way. Begin each command by using his name. This gets his attention, then you can follow through with the command. Dogs commonly respond quickly when their names are called, and they realize that you want their attention.

“No” shouldn't be a huge part of training. You need to look for positive ways to reinforce your commands when you train your dog. Simply saying “no” is not enough to help dogs understand how they should behave. Dogs need tailored training to pull through.

Be certain to maintain consistency in training. If there are several family members involved in training a dog, ensure each person uses the same techniques and commands. The dog will learn more easily if he learns a single set of commands and if he knows what response will be received for his behavior.

If you try to fit too much training in all at once, your puppy will get bored or overwhelmed. Puppies have short attention spans and don't focus well, so make sure to keep your training sessions short, but as positive as you can. Your puppy will happier with the experience, and less resistant to your future efforts. He will be looking forward to them instead.

The best way to train your dog is to use different tones of voices. Commands, corrections and praise should all have their own tone in order to help your dog distinguish cause and effect with his and your behavior. Commands call for firmness; corrections need a louder volume and praise should be in your natural tone.

One trick to remember when training your pet is to introduce it to different social environments frequently. He needs to learn how to behave around both humans and other dogs. This is best taught early. This ensures their safety and the safety of others.

Dog owners are usually thrilled at the almost immediate results they obtain by implementing some basic training techniques into their lives. Try some of the tips above if you feel a strain on the relationship between you and your dog.
