When you correct your dog verbally, try making those corrections short and straight to the point. There's no point in ranting at your dog. Simply tell them no an instead steer them towards what you'd like them to do. Also make sure that the volume of your voice commands their attention and lets them know that you mean business.

Timing is critical during puppy training, and you must spend sufficient time on training without doing too much. Begin with a short session training and increase the time daily. See where your dog starts not paying attention to the training session.

Avoid restraining two dogs too closely together. The leashes or chains can become intertwined, causing harm to one or more of the dogs. A larger dog could cause a tangle so bad that the smaller dog could be choked by the leash.

Hold a treat between your forefingers near the left side of your dog's head, and then slowly pass the treat in front of his face and to the opposite side. His nose will follow the treat, naturally making him roll over. When they roll over, yell “roll over.” Keep doing this until they do it just with the command. It will take some work, but keep on trying!

Shock Collars

Stay away from training devices such as shock collars. They could be detrimental to your dog and often cost a ton. In addition, shock collars and some similar items can actually discourage your dog from practicing good behavior. These tools often do more harm than good.

Patience is definitely a virtue when training your pet. Patience is the best way to keep your dog from becoming confused and for you to remain calm. Keep in mind that they wish to please you; however, they get confused because they can't understand your language.

Pay attention to how much time you spend training in one session. Your dog is going to get bored doing the same thing over and over. Keep first training lessons to 10 minutes or less.

In addition to regular walks and training your dog sessions, you should make time to let your dog exercise for at least one hour every day. When your dog gets enough exercise, training sessions are usually more effective and produce faster results. If your dog gets exercise, they will be happier and more eager to learn.
