Dog Training Tips To Tame Your Dog

Many people like having pets, such as dogs. Puppies are often mischievous little rascals and sometimes even destructive. This useful article offers all types of advice for training your pet.

The first rule to remember when you begin to house train your puppy is that what you feed them will eventually come out the other end. To help your pup develop a regular bathroom schedule, feed it quality food two or three times each day, always at particular times. This way, you will have a good idea of when your pup needs to go out, so that there is less of a chance that an accident will occur.

As your dog progresses, you won't need to exert so much control. Your dog will be happy when he gets rewards for his good behavior, such as freedom. Don't give your dog too much free reign though.

Approach any unfamiliar dog with care. Walk slowly toward him and allow the dog to sniff your hand before trying to pet the dog. Doing so builds up trust with the dog. After your dog gets your scent, it will no longer fear you and will follow commands better.

Make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise in addition to scheduled training and potty break sessions. When your dog gets adequate exercise, he can be trained more effectively and it can bring out your dog's good behavior. An exercised dog leads to having a responsive and happy dog.

Use positive reinforcement when you are training your dog. Reward your pet using petting, small treats and positive vocal cues. Don't ever yell at or hit your dog. Not only does it not work, it encourages the belief by the dog that you have no idea what is going on. Maintain a calm attitude anytime that your dog does wrong so that you can have a relationship o mutual respect with your dog.

If your dog barks a lot, try getting them accustomed to whatever causes the problem. The source could be some certain noise or close encounters with another animal. They'll learn quickly barking isn't their best option.

A new dog requires teaching proper obedience training right from the beginning. You will have much better success if you teach a dog properly early on, instead of attempting to break negative behaviors later in their life. If you never give your dog any scraps from table food, they will never start begging for it.

Make sure you're aware of any other dogs in the area when walking your dog. Certain dogs have an aggressive streak – don't be under the assumption that the owner has taken the time to train them. If you see a dog that seems to be that way you should always steer clear, especially if you have your pet.

When training a dog to a leash it is important to keep the leash loose. Dogs are often eager to explore new territory when they get the opportunity to go for a walk. Eager dogs will begin to put some strain on their leashes. Informed owners avoid this behavior by leaving a bit of slack when walking.

Your wanting to keep a clean house and your “puppy-love” shouldn't conflict. Training a rowdy dog and breaking their bad behaviors is key to maintaining a presentable home.
