Everything You Need To Know About Effective Canine Training

Well trained dogs equate to well behaved loving dogs. If your dog knows how to socialize and behave properly, spending time with him will always be pleasant and enjoyable. Use these great tips to work with your pet and build a healthier, happier environment for both of you!

Make the dog know that the crate is it's home when you are doing crate training. You should put their food in the crate when they eat, but leave the door open. They will think of their crate as a happy place.

When you are working on crate training with your dog or puppy small steps is what works best for them to get used to it. If your dog seems comfortable inside the crate when the door is open, shut it and feed them a treat. Use small increments of time, and build them up as your puppy or dog becomes more relaxed with the process. If the puppy becomes upset, you may be progressing too quickly.

Use control when rewarding good behavior during training your dog. If you are able to command your dog to do something the right way, then it is good to calmly reward your dog. You might be thrilled with that accomplishment, when you are excited, they becomes excited and that cuts down the control in the situation. Set a good example by rewarding them calmly.

Do not ever use a shock collar to train your dog. They often do not function properly and their cost is rarely justified. Also, using devices such as shock collars can restrain your dog while discouraging good behavior. Generally, techniques such as these actually produce negative results.

Have a good time while training your dog. Playing with your dog helps build a stronger bond between dog and human, which encourages the dog to respond positively during training. While training is fun in itself, take some time to just play for enjoyment each day.

Use positive reinforcement when you are training your dog. Remember to show your dog positive attention when they do something good as often as you can. Don't ever hit your dog or yell at them! It only abuses the dog and causes him to be even more disobedient. Instead, make sure you are firm, patient, consistent and positive so that you can achieve the best possible results.

When you begin training your puppy, create a bond with him by first teaching him his name. Call him by name frequently, and teach him to come when called. Your puppy's name should be one of its first words learned. Spend ample time with the puppy to create a bond. This will build trust between the puppy and you. This will help them become more receptive to harder training later.

An effective way to train your dog is to use different voice tones for different purposes. Your commands, praise, and scoldings should have different tones so that your dog can distinguish between them. Stand firm and be sharp when using commands. Use louder tones for corrections, and use your natural tone when giving praise.

Because many people believe training your dog is difficult, they are usually shocked at just how simple this can be. It doesn't have to be nearly as stressful or time-consuming. Big improvements can be made by simply adjusting both the person's behavior and the techniques used with the animal.
