Follow These Tips To Train Your New Puppy

Training a dog actually involves training the owner. This is because a dog cannot be effectively trained until the owner learns how to go about doing it. It is important for people to learn the proper ways to communicate with their pets, otherwise they may reinforce bad behavior. This article offers some good guidelines for first-time dog trainers.

Try to see things from your dog's eyes. Sometimes a dog will be a slow learner, and this can be frustrating. Instead of being frustrated, try to think like your dog. Try to see the world through their eyes.

Your dog needs to learn good feeding habits, and this is best accomplished with a clear routine. Develop a feeding schedule, and be consistent with the routines so you can teach your dog what to expect and how to behave. Soon your dog will be finished with the meal before you are ready to remove the dish.

Use firm control to elicit desirable behaviors from your pet. When your dog obeys your command, try to keep them calm as you give them their reward. Though you may be happy with the accomplishment, excitement on your part leads to excitement on their part and diminishes control of the situation. Maintain a calm atmosphere and provide an appropriate reward.

Teething is painful, and providing chew toys helps alleviate the pain. Keep items that are potentially more painful out of reach. Give it one of his toys instead. A frozen washcloth can provide teething relief for your pup.

Consistency is key when working on crate training with a young dog. As soon as the puppy is out of the crate, let them have an opportunity to go outside and relieve themselves. Doing so helps him learn when it is okay to go to the bathroom.

The first thing your dog must learn is who the boss is. Your dog will not respect or obey you, unless you let him know that you are the boss. Never allow your dog pull on the leash while you are on a walk.

Give your dog more freedom as he or she gets further along in the training program. This balance between obedience and freedom will provide your dog with a very satisfying life. Just be careful that you don't give your dog too much freedom, as this can cause negative behavior.

It is important to leash-train your dog. This will assure that the two of you are safe when you are out on walks.

Now that the people who are interested in training their new pet dog have, hopefully, learned some new tricks, they can proceed to pass them along to their pets. Once a dog is on its way to learning, the owner will begin to appreciate the dedication that he or she has shown for doing the right thing for man's best friend.
