If the mess stays on the area for too long, it can leave a scent behind that your animal may return to in the future to do his business. You should never spend more than a few minutes training your dog. Sessions should be nor more than 15 minutes to avoid frustrating the dog, which is counterproductive. Following every session, allocate some playtime and give the dog lots of praise.
