Whenever you have to correct your dog, make sure to speak using short and sharp language. Avoid going on a rant about the dog's “badness”. Just tell them no, and redirect them to the task you are asking them to do. Also make sure that the volume of your voice commands their attention and lets them know that you mean business.

A healthy diet is important to the health and well-being of your dog. If the dog's diet is poor, it is not good for their health. Not only is it unhealthy, it can affect the way they behave. Simply improving their diet may have a bigger impact on how they respond to training.

Chew Toys

Make sure your teething puppy has a bunch of chew toys readily available to him, and keep other things he likes to chew on away from him. Replace the item immediately with one of the dog's own chew toys. If your puppy needs to chew because he is teething, try a frozen washcloth.

Never tie two or more dogs in close vicinity to one another. Their chains could get tangled up and as they struggle to get free; there is a good chance the dogs can get injured. If two dogs' chains become entangled, it is possible that one or both dogs could experience difficulty breathing or even strangulation.

“Leave it” is a very important command that teaches your dog to drop whatever it is holding. This should be the first command you teach. This simple command is beneficial in making him stop on chewing furniture inside the house.

Make sure training has an element of fun incorporated into it. Your dog will bond with you the more fun you have together, and this helps the dog give a positive response. Training can be pretty fun, but make sure you get plenty of non-training play in too.

Your dog will behave well if you keep reinforcing your training. The dog does not stop learning as it grows older. If you provide positive reinforcement for desirable behaviors, your dog will continue to be obedient, and when you provide your dog with consistent discipline, negative behaviors are less likely to occur.

Using a different tone of voice for different purposes is a great teaching tool for training your dog. Use different tones for praise and discipline. Commands must be sharp and firm, corrections should be loud and praise should be given in a natural tone.

With consistency, you can train your dog to hold on longer. When at home, keep your dog close and let him outside each hour. Every time your dog potties outside, be quick to praise him. When he goes inside, don't punish him. In the beginning, they won't understand what they did wrong. Once your dog drinks or eats, take him out 15 minutes after finishing. Also, be sure to take him outside after he has exited his crate.

Dogs have a lot of energy to exhaust so make certain that you provide plenty of outlets for this to happen positively. Dogs need to eat well and have a good place to exercise and keep busy.

The previous information should be helpful in training your dog so that you can help maintain a clean home. Form strategies you can use every day, and watch as your dog becomes the perfectly trained pooch.
