Helpful Techniques To Train Your Family Dog

Dogs are joyful creatures full of love. Bringing home a puppy can be a lot of work. There is a lot of training that needs to take place. Follow the tips presented here in a consistent manner to train your dog quickly and well.

When you're working on training you dog, you must always try to teach it how to know that it's their home. Leave food near or inside the crate and leave the door open. This will create a good association between the crate and their food.

Crate train your puppy in small steps, so that the training is most effective. Eventually they will become comfortable with the crate and you can then try to shut the door to the crate. When they allow the door to shut you can give them a treat through the wiring. Leave them in for short periods of time, as little as 10 seconds. Work up from there. If they get upset, it's too fast.

Get your dog into a feeding routine. Train your dog to understand that the food bowl will be removed 10-15 minutes after you have fed him. This will help get him on a schedule. Your dog will eat their food in the time that you have alloted.

Don't expect your dog to learn a command the first time you say it. It's very common to repeat a command up to 50 times before your dog can learn it. Being patient while trying the same task or command will allow your dog to understand it.

The rule of thumb with puppies and house training is to remember: what is eaten will pass. You can promote consistency and regularity by feeding your pet on a firm schedule two or three times daily with only the highest quality of food. That way, you'll know when you need to take your doggie out to “go”.

It is best to train your dog in a crate that is the right size. Don't forget that puppies get bigger. Choose a crate that can grow with him. There should be ample room for the dog to lie down and turn comfortably.

You can now use the tips you read in this article to start training your new pet. Remain patient and reward your pet when he behaves properly. You cannot expect to master these tips in mere days, but as long as you stay dedicated, you can succeed in training your dog.
