A well-behaved dog makes for a happier home. When a dog has great training and is perfectly socialized, they are so much fun to be with. This part of your life will be a great joy. So to enhance your relationship with your dog, read on!
When doing crate training, train your dog incrementally rather than trying to do it all at once. When your dog appears to be at ease while inside the crate with the door ajar, you can help him adjust to the crate even further by slowly latching the door and rewarding him with treats fed to him through the spaces between the wires. Start off only putting them inside for 10 seconds, and when they seem okay with that, slowly increase the time they are inside. If your dog becomes restless, you may be ramping up too quickly.
Your dog needs to get plenty of exercise. Dogs can easily get bored. When dogs feel bored, they are much more stubborn when it comes to training. Your dog is going to be a lot more attentive when it has received enough exercise. Be sure to go for jogs or walks with your dog regularly.
Training Sessions
Your daily schedule should consist of regular potty breaks, regular training sessions and an hour of good exercise. Making sure your dog has enough exercise makes training sessions more effective and encourages regular good behavior from your dog. If your pet can exercise regularly and be active, he will be far more happy and responsive.
Use the dog's name often when training to ensure that you have their attention. When you first get a dog it is important to say his name often, so that he will associate it to himself and will be more apt to pay attention to you when you call it. Chose a name that can easily be distinguished from other words, and that has only one or two syllables.
Pay attention to your tone when you are disciplining your dog. Dogs can easily sense how their owners or trainers feel. If you want to correct bad behavior, try a disapproving tone with your dog.
Leash-training starts with a loose leash. When you take your dog out for a walk, he will want to explore. Your dog might pull on their leash. Great dog owners don't allow this behavior. Instead, they encourage their dogs to walk with some slack in their leash.
Teach your puppy to wear a collar while playing before you train him to use a leash. By making your puppy comfortable to wearing a leash, he will be more apt to keep it on.
If traveling with your dog, be sure to pack all of the things you will need to keep him happy on your travels. Items like food and water bowls, bathroom bags and paper towels are important in having a very relaxing ride. Items like food can be left at home. Simply purchase some when you reach your destination.
Lots of people think that training your dog is complicated, confusing and stressful; however, this isn't true. Simple changes when it comes to our behavior on the things that we implement could reap big improvements when it comes to our dog's behavior.
