Get your dog chew toys to get rid of teething pains. Offer your puppy a variety of acceptable items to chew on. Teething can cause puppies significant pain. Give them relief by letting them chew on a washcloth that is wet and frozen.

Try to mistakenly avoid reinforcing any behaviors that are unwanted when doing training your dog. In other words, you must avoid showering your pet with treats or rewards in response to performing some unwanted behavior. Don't scratch the dogs back, give it a snack or reward it in any way if it jumps, barks or does anything you don't approve of.

Always have a treat for rewarding your dog. You want your pet to know that you are pleased with his behavior. Your dog will become able to realize the difference between what you consider as good and bad behavior.

This can train your dog to whine or come get you when he feels the urge, so you can let him out and prevent him from doing his business inside. This helps your puppy learn to “hold it” for a bit, until he knows it's time to go out and will help save you money on carpet cleaning.

Primary reinforcement is key during dog training. You need to give your dog a treat if they are good. Primary reinforcements include using food as treats and rubbing your dog's belly. This helps them to make positive associations with the desired behaviors.

Continue training your dog using the same techniques over time. If there are several trainers, ensure that they are all being consistent with rewards and commands. The dog is sure to have a simpler time learning, as long as he is asked to obey just one group of commands and is given consistent responses.

Successful training your dog for walks means being aware of any dogs or other animals you will encounter while walking. You need to be well aware of any dogs that seem aggressive. Make sure your dog stays away from other dogs that are aggressive.

You should be sure to respond positively when your dog does something good. Smile, offers treats and show excitement to relay to your dog that he is doing something positive. You should not give them a treat or reward if they are not doing something good.

It's important to remember that all of the things you do with your dog are building its behavior and personality. Finding some of your dogs undesired behaviors amusing can inadvertently reinforce them. Take care to only reward positive behavior.
