How To Train Your Dog With Confidence

Getting a brand new puppy trained can be daunting. But, it is imperative that you train your new pet so that you and your family are safe and happy with them. It is essential to you and your puppy that you use positive puppy training methods. It is difficult to succeed in training when you lack patience and are inconsistent in your efforts. Take time to train your dog every single day because consistency will really be what works in the end. They will become easily bored if you try it for much longer.

It is a simple task to teach a dog how to roll over, just be sure to keep some dog treats handy! First, have the dog lay down. Then hold the treat at the side of the dog's head and move it around it's face to the other side. This will cause your dog to use their nose to follow the treat. As a result, your dog will roll over. As he is rolling over, give the “roll over” command, and do this repeatedly until he can roll over with just the command and without the treat. It may take a while to get to this point, but you will be pleased if you stick with it. It's an impressive trick.

As you progress with your dog's training, you should begin to give it more and more freedom. The key to a satisfying life for your dog is a balance of freedom and obedience. Don't give too much at any one time, of course, or it could take your training back a step.

For a dog to become house trained you should always have them on the same feeding schedule everyday, so their elimination time is always the same. Your dog will adjust to the schedule and he will quickly learn that his outside time is when he should go to the bathroom. Having a regular schedule will help your dog know that a potty break will be coming, and he will hold learn to hold his bathroom urges until that time.

Keep your sessions short to accommodate a short attention span. By spending too long on any single thing, your dog will likely become very bored and antsy. Keep first training lessons to 10 minutes or less.

You need to make certain your dog is having fun each day during training sessions. Playful interaction strengthens the bond between you, and will have your dog striving even harder to please you during training. Although training itself is fun, it is good to spend time each day just playing with your dog because you can.

When training your dog, reinforce positive behaviors in a positive way. If you are happy with your dog, give him pets, happy words and the occasional treat. Never punish your dog with words or your hands. This is not a particularly effective form of training. Maintain a calm attitude anytime that your dog does wrong so that you can have a relationship o mutual respect with your dog.

Keep these tips in mind to have a happier dog. This will help keep your property, your pet and others safe. Implementing the training tips given in this article will result in a simpler time training, particularly when you practice with patience.
