Do not tie a couple of dogs closely together. One dog's chain might become entangled with the other, which could lead to serious injuries. Becoming wrapped up could also cause death if one of the dogs gets so tangled and wrapped up his airway closes.

Repetition is what causes a dog to learn. It's very likely to take many repetitions of one command in order for your pup to fully understand it. Continue repeating the command patiently, and eventually your dog will understand it.

Training lessons should be kept short. Dogs have a short attention span, and keeping the training sessions short and sweet prevents them from becoming a boring chore your dog dreads. If more training is desired, work in some break times so your dog can play before continuing with training.

Your dog must learn that there is no need for it to respond to your utterance of the word ‘no.' Positive reinforcement is the best method for canine training. When you tell your dog “no” during training, he has no idea what you want him to do instead of the behavior you reprimand. Every dog and situation is unique and you should adapt your strategies accordingly.

Always use positive reinforcement to train your dog. Use positive language to reward the dog, as well as petting and small treats on occasion. Don't ever yell at or hit your dog. This makes the dog think you are imbalanced. If you want good results, you must be positive, consistent and firm as you train your dog.

The most successful training program is lifelong. Even though your dog is an adult, it must keep learning. By reinforcing positive behavior, your dog will remain obedient, just as continued discipline can stop poor behavior from taking hold.

Call your dogs name when speaking to him to keep him focused. Use the name often, especially during the first weeks at home; the puppy should associate his name with focusing on you. Choose a puppy name that sounds differently than other words your puppy may hear throughout the day.

With any luck, you have gleaned some information that will really help you bond with your pet. Use the information that is right for you. You already love your puppy but soon you will be able to trust your faithful dog. Training is the best way to reach success. Keep your pet well trained. Best of luck to your and your beloved dog — or dogs.
