Some dog owners are blessed with naturally obedient animals. You might not be one of them, but that's no reason to sit still and put up with a willful dog who acts aggressive, behaves improperly in the house, or refuses to obey simple commands. Apply the ideas provided here to alter your pet and your relationship with him.
Spend just the right amount of time training your dog, and do not wear it out. You should not over do it, train in small time increments. Know when your dog does not pay attention when you are training it.
Be patient when teaching your dog, it will take some time. It's very common to repeat a command up to 50 times before your dog can learn it. Using the exact same command and remain patient with them so that they can get it.
When house training a dog, keep in mind that whatever they take in, they must eventually eliminate. To help your pup develop a regular bathroom schedule, feed it quality food two or three times each day, always at particular times. That way, you'll know when you need to take your doggie out to “go”.
Be consistent with your dog training to make sure your animal stays obedient to the rules it has been learning. A lot of owners will train their dogs once and not conduct any refreshers. Dogs are much like humans, in the sense that they share the same habitual learning system. Dogs, much like kids, do best when they have limits and rules.
You can train a pooch to roll over fairly quickly if you have some treats to hand out. First, place your dog in the “down” position. Then hold the treat at the side of the dog's head and move it around it's face to the other side. He will probably follow the treat, rolling side to side as it moves. While he rolls, say “roll over” and repeat this action until he is able to roll over with only the command. This may take time, so don't become frustrated.
Primary Reinforcement
Primary reinforcement should be used when training your dog. Primary reinforcement uses the things that your dog loves as rewards for positive behavior. Some examples of primary reinforcements are food and rubbing the dog's belly. This teaches your dog something that they desire.
When training a dog, be sure you get their attention the same way. Say your dog's name, followed by the command. Give a simple command after beginning with the dog's name. Usually, dogs quickly respond when you can their name and are aware you want to grab their attention.
If you plan on housebreaking your pet, you must work hard to avoid any preventable mistakes. Learn to recognize what your dog does when he needs to go out. Pacing, sniffing and whining are common signs. If you see your dog exhibiting these behaviors, jump right up and grab the leash. Quickly leash your pet and lead him to an area where he can relieve himself. Whenever your dog uses the restroom outside, reward him or her with lots of praise. They will eventually ask to go outside.
If your dog seems that they will never listen, do not be afraid of trying. Most dogs could be trained by knowing proper techniques and by having perseverance. Use the information here to make it easier to train your dog and get maximum results.
