If you want to be happy with your dog and you want it to be happy, training is essential. When your dog is well-trained, both of you will fully understand what behaviors are acceptable. A well-trained dog can be left in a house alone is well behaved around visitors and is generally a joy to be around. It might not have been an easy road, but you will soon know that the time you spent on training your dog will have been worth it.

Dogs need an hour or more of exercise each day, aside from their potty breaks. By allowing your dog ample play time, he will be more willing to pay attention during training time. Your dog will be happier and more responsive when he gets the exercise he needs.

Primary Reinforcement

Primary reinforcement is an important part of any training program. This means using a beloved item to reinforce positive behavior. Primary reinforcement could be treats or giving your dog a belly rub. By doing this method of training, your dog will learn that in order to get what they want, they must do what you want.

Avoid saying ‘no' during canine training. Find some positive ways to enforce training when you train your dog. The word ‘no' itself is not enough to make your dog understand they need to stop what they are doing. Every situation and dog is different and their training should be tailored accordingly.

Training your dog centers around the establishment of rules. Once the rules have been set, your dog, and you, will find the relationship even more worthwhile! It is important that you are always reinforcing what you have taught your dog. Make sure he stays on top of what he has learned, and correct any bad behavior. As soon as your dog gets used to training, there's no end to what you can accomplish.
