Stay very consistent and persistent when starting your crate training regimen. Whenever you let your puppy out of the crate, he must be given the immediate chance to go potty. As you continue this training, your pet will begin to wait until he gets to the appropriate location to relieve himself.
Choose a crate that fits your dog properly and use it to crate train them. Puppies will get bigger. Choose a crate that your puppy can grow in, but won't grow out of. At full size your dog should be able to move around without feeling too constricted.
Have verbal cues so that your pet will know exactly when they complete a command correctly. Certain words like “yes” are great for bridging the time between obeying an order and receiving the reward.
Every day, try to allow your pet to have an hour or so of exercise. This is on top of regular training lessons and restroom breaks. A dog that is physically active and has the chance to exercise regularly is more capable of learning during training sessions. A dog who has proper training and enough play time will be a happy dog.

Keep training sessions with your puppy short. A puppy's attention span is short and their energy is limited, so your sessions should be short and positive. If your training sessions stress your puppy, he will grow increasingly less attentive in future sessions.
Use various tones of voice when training your dog. For example, use a different tone when praising your dog than you do when commanding your dog to obey. Keep your commands short and sharp while corrections should be louder.
Training your dog is essentially establishing relationship rules, and, like with people, enjoyment with each other will be so much more since the groundwork has been established. Keep up with the things your dog has been taught during training. Make sure he stays on top of what he has learned, and correct any bad behavior.
