Gradual increments are easiest on your dog when going through crate training. Once your puppy feels comfortable in the open crate, close the door and offer the dog a treat. Teaching any dog how to roll over can be pretty easy. Make sure you've got a few tasty treats handy before beginning. Begin by getting the dog to lay down. Then, put a treat close to the floor near the side of the dog's head, and gradually raise it over its head to the opposite side. He will naturally use his nose to follow the treat, thus rolling over his whole body. While rolling, use your vocal command. It will take some work, but keep on trying!

Patience is key in dog training. Using patience helps prevent frustration for both you and the dog. Your dog will do its best, but give your dog enough time to remember orders. You need to remember that your puppy needs to form the association between the word and the behavior you expect.

Begin training your dog with what may be easy for him to learn. You will have the rush of seeing quick results, but the dog will gain a basic understanding of what good behavior means. Doing this will give you better results in your training.

Use positive reinforcements when training your dog. Praise your dog when he deserves it, and give him treats to show that you are pleased. Under no circumstances should you be violent or aggressive with your dog in response to negative behaviors. This makes the dog think you are imbalanced. Maintain a calm attitude anytime that your dog does wrong so that you can have a relationship o mutual respect with your dog.

When training your new dog, you call them by name as much as possible. Use his name more when he is a puppy. By the time he is grown, he will automatically give you his attention when you say his name. Chose a name that can easily be distinguished from other words, and that has only one or two syllables.

Expect mistakes and setbacks when housebreaking a puppy. To help your training stay on track, clean up any messes right away. The odors from these accidents will remain in the carpeting, which will attract your pet back to this same spot to use again and again for elimination purposes. There are lots of products in the market that you can use in this aspect, so be sure to check your local pet store.

Regardless of your dog's age, or his previous behavior problems, the advice above really can help. You will have to be patient as you implement these tips. If you do so, you both will be at your happiest.
