An effective training program translates to a happy pet and an equally happy pet owner. A puppy training routine makes it easier for you and your dog to understand each other's expectations. Once your dog is trained, you'll feel more comfortable leaving him inside the house alone, having visitors over with him around and taking him with you out in public. Even though training a dog is not an easy task, the time you take with it to teach manners, tricks, and how to do things properly will be time that is well spent.
You need to adhere to a specific feeding routine for your dog. Develop a feeding schedule, and be consistent with the routines so you can teach your dog what to expect and how to behave. After some time training the dog this way, it will begin to finish the food before it is time to pick up the bowl.
Train your dog to remain calm when you walk into the room. Your pet needs play time (and you might too), but your pet needs to be calm when you step into rooms most of the time. Don't acknowledge dogs the moment that you set foot in the house.
Chew Toy
Give your puppy something it can chew to help it lessen teething pains, like a toy or a piece of rope. Keep any items you treasure out of reach of your puppy while it is teething. Give it an actual chew toy in its place. In cases where your puppy is suffering a great deal of pain, try soaking a washcloth in water and freezing it as a numbing chew toy.
Understand that during training, what your dog eats will go out of their system. To help your pup develop a regular bathroom schedule, feed it quality food two or three times each day, always at particular times. By scheduling your feedings, you will be able to determine when you should take your dog out. This can greatly reduce the number of accidents.
Above all, the goal of a training program is to set well-defined expectations for your pet. Your relationship with other people is strengthened by shared respect and mutual understanding; a relationship with your pet is no different. Do not forget to remind your dog of what he has learned. If he deviates from any acceptable behavior, you need to correct this right away, and work every day to make sure that he is remembering what you have taught him. When the time comes that you have trained your dog in the basics, the things you and he can achieve have no limit.
