Puppy Training Techniques To Help You With Your Dog

You need to reward your dog to be successful. Knowing when to give him a treat, and how much, is paramount. This is because a dog does not always understand what it is being rewarded for if they do not receive their treat at the right time.

Dogs have a short attention span and you will have to attract his attention. With enough repetition, your dog will focus on other things less and less, opting to wait for signals from you.

Dogs should never be tied up close to each other. The dogs chains could get tangled up and cause harm to the dogs as they struggle to get free. Becoming wrapped up could also cause death if one of the dogs gets so tangled and wrapped up his airway closes.

Training your pet to roll over very easy. Just remember to have treats in hand. The first step is a simple “lay” command. Next, hold a treat near the floor on one side of his head, slowly bring the treat up and over the dogs head to the other side. Ideally, your dog will use his nose to follow the treat, rolling his whole body in the process. As he rolls over say out loud, “roll over.” Repeat this until he rolls over with the command alone. Have patience since your dog may not get the trick quickly. However, once he does, he'll be the center of attention at the dog park.

Walking on a leash is a big step in your dog's training. Doing so is a matter of safety for both you and the dog when you take him for a walk.

When your dog does something unacceptable, make sure that it becomes known. It is uncomfortable but a non-painful experience for the dog. Before long, you dog will stop his jumping on people altogether.

When training your dog, make it fun for the both of you. Taking time to play creates a strong bond between the two of you, and your dog will be more likely to respond well to training. Despite the fun the two of you will have during training, it is important to set aside time that is designated to enjoyment only, with no work or training involved.
