Puppy Training Tips That Will Keep You And Your Dog Happy

Congratulations is in order for your decision to get a new dog. It will soon become an integral part of your family. What happens now? If you train your dog effectively, you and your dog will be much happier. Read these tips to learn all the skills needed to train your dog.

Your dog needs to be active frequently. Dogs become bored very easily. A bored dog is very difficult to train. If you have a happy, exercised dog, they will listen better. You and your dog can run or walk together daily.

When attempting to house train your pup, keep in mind that whatever goes in, must go out. To keep your pet regular, feed him quality food a couple of times daily at the same hour. Doing so allows you to gain a clearer picture of when your puppy might need to relieve himself outdoors.

If you plan to incorporate a crate in canine training, choose one that corresponds to the size of your dog. Keep in mind that your puppy will eventually grow into a bigger dog. Find a crate big enough for your adult dog. There should be ample room for the dog to lie down and turn comfortably.

During the dog training process, take care not to inadvertently reinforce bad behavior. Don't ever reward a dog that is behaving badly. This includes things like petting them when they jump on you at the door.

It is easy to train a roll with treats. Firstly, have the dog lie down. Next, you must hold one treat close to the floor off to one side of their head and slowly bring it up and over the dog's head to the opposite side. The dog ought to follow his treat with the nose, prompting him to flop his entire body over. When he rolls over, you should say “roll over,” and repeat the process until the command is all he needs to do so. It will probably take multiple attempts, but you will be the talk of the town when the trick is learned.

Do not ever use a shock collar to train your dog. They are both expensive and unlikely to work properly. Also, shock collars may actually hinder your dog's development and thwart positive behaviors. The negative training causes negative outcomes.

When giving a command to your dog, you should always use the exact same kind of voice and the same volume. This lets the dog know you are serious. It also helps the dog to understand the difference between a sharp tone for discipline and a sharp but non-punishing command.

When training your dog make sure you always get his attention in the same manner. Start commands with their name all the time. Then, say the command. Your dog will notice their name and they will see that you want their attention.

As soon as you get your puppy, the first thing to teach him/her is their name; this will help build a bond between animal and human. Always use his name, and expect him to come to you when he is called. This should be the first thing you teach your puppy. Spend a lot of time with your new puppy, so he will learn how to gain trust in you. This will help them become more receptive to harder training later.

Being well trained makes for happy dogs, and happy dog owners as well. The advice in this article should create a new level of training between you and your dog.
