Rewards And Punishment, The Basics Of Training Your Dog

There are a lot of reasons as to why training your dog is beneficial. Your dog will be a better dog and you will be a better dog owner. There is a lot of good information you can gain by taking the time out of your day to learn more about canine training by reading this. You will find this to be an enjoyable process for both of you.

When crate training your new puppy or dog, there are a few tricks you can apply. If the dog doesn't want to go inside the crate, put a rawhide bone in there and shut the door. This will make the puppy want to be let inside the crate to get the bone. Once they go in the crate, praise them so that they know they did well.

Ensure that your dog gets enough activity. Don't let your dog sit around with nothing to do. They won't get any exercise that way and if they're too bored, they might sniff around and get into some trouble. When dogs feel bored, they are much more stubborn when it comes to training. Your dog will be more relaxed and willing to listen if he is exercised frequently. You and your dog can run or walk together daily.

You can train a pooch to roll over fairly quickly if you have some treats to hand out. You can have your dog sit or roll over. Now, with a treat in your palm, move your hand from one side of the dog's face to the other. His nose will follow the treat, naturally making him roll over. Whenever you dog does roll over, actually say the words, “roll over.” Continue to do this until your dog actually rolls over whenever you say the words without using the treat. Be patient if they don't get it right away; they'll get it soon enough!

You indicate that jumping up is an unacceptable behavior by grabbing the dogs paws, squeezing gently and guiding them back down to the ground. You will not be hurting them if you squeeze them softly, they just do not like it. Since it is so uncomfortable, they'll avoid jumping on people.

Dogs need an hour or more of exercise each day, aside from their potty breaks. When your dog is worn out, his behavior will be better. A dog that's well exercised is a responsive and content dog.

Use the dog's name as much as possible to ensure that it pays attention. Make sure to use the dog's name constantly when you first have him, so he can make the connection with his name and paying attention. Pick a name that is distinguished and no longer than two syllables.

As stated above, training your dog is very beneficial. You are likely to enjoy the training more and more as it progresses. You and your dog will enjoy learning how to work together and follow the rules.
