Start Training Your Dog Today With This Great Advice

Part of training your dog is learning to train yourself as well. Before an owner is able to train their dog, they need to know what they are doing themselves. It is important for people to learn the proper ways to communicate with their pets, otherwise they may reinforce bad behavior. This article provides excellent puppy training tips that can help develop a better understanding of the process.

Make it clear to your dog that their crate is their home. At meal times always put their bowl of food inside the crate leaving the door open the whole time while they are eating. This will give your dog a positive association with the crate.

When crate training an indoor dog or puppy, you may try some tricks. If your dog doesn't want to enter the crate, put a chew bone inside the crate, then close to door. They can see and smell that bone, and they will want in the crate to have it. Praise your dog once he gets into the crate.

When corrected your dog verbally, make sure to use sharp, concise wording. Don't scream and yell and throw a fit. Just say no and show them the behavior you expect. You should also be certain that your voice is loud enough to get their attention, but also conveys seriousness.

Dogs will focus on something and ignore all else unless something breaks that attention. Dogs learn by repetition so with continued training, your dog will immediately focus on what you are saying.

It is important to have an appropriately sized dog crate. Puppies will get bigger. You must be able to accommodate the growth your puppy will experience as he ages. A larger crate allows for continued comfort and happiness. At full size your dog should be able to move around without feeling too constricted.

Be consistent with your canine training to make sure your animal stays obedient to the rules it has been learning. Pet owners often believe that once their dog completes a training program, the process is over. Pets, just like humans, need to be reminded of the rules now and then. Your dog must follow the rule system strictly.

Now that the people who are interested in training their new pet dog have, hopefully, learned some new tricks, they can proceed to pass them along to their pets. Once a dog is on its way to learning, the owner will begin to appreciate the dedication that he or she has shown for doing the right thing for man's best friend.
