Take Your Well-Trained Dog Anywhere Without A Care

Dogs can easily make their way into your heart. If you've got one and wish to get another, that's great! A well-trained dog, however, is crucial if you want to keep the peace in the home. You'll feel more confident, if you're home with them or not. Read the article below to get some helpful tips to contribute to a wonderful owner/pet relationship:

Set a schedule and routine for feeding your dog from the very beginning of your relationship. Train your dog to understand that the food bowl will be removed 10-15 minutes after you have fed him. This will help get him on a schedule. This will set a quality schedule for your dog so that they are ready for all meals.

The rule of thumb with puppies and house training is to remember: what is eaten will pass. To ensure that your dog's bowel movements remain regular, feed him or her some high-quality food a minimum of twice per day during the same times daily. This will help you figure out when the best time is to take your dog out and avoid accidents.

Choose a crate that corresponds to the size of your dog to facilitate its training. Keep in mind, puppies do not stay small forever. Choose a crate which will be the right size for the dog when he grows up. There should be enough space to move around without feeling cramped.

As you progress with your dog's training, you should begin to give it more and more freedom. Rewarding them by showing them you trust them more will only encourage better behavior. Make sure you do not provide excessive freedom right away, or backsliding may occur.

You need to make certain your dog is having fun each day during training sessions. When you play with your dog, it strengthens the bond between you and them, thus encouraging the pet to stay positive during training. Training can be pretty fun, but make sure you get plenty of non-training play in too.

Make sure your dog understand he does not need to respond to the word “no”. Find positive and supportive ways to train your furry friend. Telling them “no” does not help them know how to react to you. Dogs need tailored training to pull through.

You need to be use rewards and positive reinforcers when you are training your pet. Give your dog rewards every time he or she does something good. Don't yell and/or hit your dog. This never works, and your dog will sense that you are cluelss. Instead, make sure you are firm, patient, consistent and positive so that you can achieve the best possible results.

Use your dog's name often to get and keep his attention. Call your dog by name as much as possible when you are first getting to know your pup; this will establish a connection between hearing the name and giving positive attention to the speaker. Give your dog a relatively short name, preferably one that isn't likely to be confused with other words.

Hopefully, you found a few tips that will go a long way towards improving your dog-owner relationship. Whatever fits your situation, begin to apply it today. You love your dog and want the best for all involved. Training is the way to have success. Make sure your pet is well trained. Congratulations to your furry friend!
