Teach You Dog Well With These Tips

No matter what the size or breed, every dog has a similar mindset. Understanding how they think will allow anyone to train any dog. If one doesn't fully understand this mindset, then here is some insight for them.

When crate training your new puppy or dog, there are a few tricks you can apply. If your pet is nervous about the crate, consider putting a toy or treat inside to motivate them to go in. Your dog will want to get into the crate in order to eat the treat. If they do go into the crate, offer up praise and a treat.

Have a good reward system when training your dog. Unless you offer treats appropriately and frequently, it's almost impossible to keep him motivated and interested. A dog quickly forgets his actions, so you must reward him immediately to reinforce his behaviors.

Try to see things from your dog's perspective. Things that seem simple to you may not be as simple to your dog if he is having a hard time learning them. It might make things easier if you ask yourself what is going on in your dog's mind. This can help you come up with new ideas on how to accomplish your training objectives.

Keep your dog active. Dogs can easily get bored. When dogs feel bored, they are much more stubborn when it comes to training. If you have a happy, exercised dog, they will listen better. Get out for some long walks and runs with your dog.

If you intend to use a crate in puppy training, make sure the crate is an appropriate size for your dog. Keep in mind that your puppy will eventually grow into a bigger dog. Be sure to select a crate that allows your dog to have ample room as it grows. Your dog needs to have the room to get around the crate and not feel cramped.

Try a phrase that you will stick with to train your puppy when you are house breaking him or her. If you use the special phrase you have come up with each time you take him outside, you will get him to focus on what he is supposed to do.

You need to understand the way your dog thinks and reacts before you can really comprehend why they are doing certain things. If you know this, you can train your dog more effectively. An individual who has taken the time to learn about their pet is more likely to succeed in his or her training efforts.
