When trying to train your dog, it is important not to make your commands too complex. You will be disappointed if you expect too much from your dog. You should put effort into learning about canine training, just as you expect your dog to do.

When crate training your new puppy, take it in small manageable steps so the animal can become accustomed to the changes easily. Allow them to feel comfortable in their crate by closing the door and feeding them treats while praising them. Keep the gate closed for short periods of time, and work your way up to longer times. If they start to fuss, you are going too fast.

Verbal corrections must be sharp and direct. Don't berate your dog with a lengthy speech. Just say “no” and show them what to do instead. When speaking to your dog, use a voice that commands respect.

Teaching dogs to roll over can be easy, provided some treats are on hand. First, have your pet to lay down. Next, hold a treat near the floor on one side of his head, slowly bring the treat up and over the dogs head to the other side. This will cause your dog to use their nose to follow the treat. As a result, your dog will roll over. Say “roll over” as you perform the maneuver. Be patient while he masters this trick. He will be a star once he does!

If you approach a dog you do not know, do so slowly. Let the dog sniff the back or top of your extended hand. Doing so builds up trust with the dog. As you become close to one another, fear will be diminished and opportunities to learn together will be increased.

A consistent schedule of feeding and potty-time is very important when house training your dog. This gives you important forehand knowledge to prevent accidents and your dog an association of cause and effect to follow. Being consistent will teach the dog to hold it until it is time to go outside.

If you say ‘no', your dog should understand that it does not need a response. Instead, use positive reinforcement to encourage positive behaviors and gloss past the results that are not what you want. It takes more than a single syllable to elicit the desired response from your dog. Every dog and every situation is different. This means that their training must be tailored accordingly.

Avoiding accidents entirely is the best way to toilet train a dog. Pay attention for signs that your dog needs to go outside. It's common for them to snuffle, wise and pace when they have to go. If you see your dog exhibiting these behaviors, jump right up and grab the leash. Put his leash on and take him to the place you wish him to go. Make sure you do plenty of praising when he does it right. Before long, he will be able to ask you to take him out.

After learning some helpful hints on how to get through to your dog and train it to behave to your expectations you simply need to follow what you have learned. After changing your dogs behavior to fit with the tips suggested you can properly train your dog.
