Tips To Have The Best Behaved Dog On The Block!

Having a dog is a lot of fun and you will soon find yourself loving your dog. Puppies require a lot of time and work. You must train your dog extensively. Use these tips on a consistent basis and you will see a trained dog in no time at all.

Timing is everything in dog training, and you need to make sure you don't overdo it. Shorter training sessions are better at the beginning of your program. This will give you a good idea of when to put more effort into your training session.

Do your best to keep your dog active through the day. Dogs can become bored very easily. A bored dog will try and find something interesting to do, and training is not usually interesting. When your dog is exercised and is happy, training will be easier. Regularly take a walk or run with your dog.

You should never tether two dogs in close proximity to one another. The leashes or chains can become intertwined, causing harm to one or more of the dogs. If a big dog is tangled up with a little one, they may get so wrapped up that air passages are blocked off, and one could potentially die.

Dog's deserve more freedom as their training progresses. If you can instill a healthy sense of obedience with an appreciation for your love, you and your dog are guaranteed to enjoy your time together. Just be careful that you don't give your dog too much freedom, as this can cause negative behavior.

Be ready with a favorite treat when your dog successfully completes a command. You want to teach your pooch that good behavior is beneficial. Your dog will soon learn the difference between good and bad behavior.

Make sure you are having fun when you are training your dog each day. If you do so, your dog will feel closer to you, and even respond to training better. Although puppy training can be fun, you don't really want to spend all your time in training mode.

Always make use of positive reinforcement when it comes to training your dog. Use a happy tone when you are rewarding your dog; pet him a lot, and give him a little treat once in a while. Never punish your dog with words or your hands. This makes the dog think you are imbalanced. Stick to the plan and maintain a positive attitude for great results.

Continue training your dog using the same techniques over time. If multiple family members are involved in a pet's training, make sure everyone is using the same commands and a similar system of discipline and rewards. Your pet will have a better time at learning once it knows what response to expect from his behavior.

Wearing a puppy out by overloading it with information and training is counterproductive. A puppy's attention span is short and their energy is limited, so your sessions should be short and positive. If you do too much the puppy will just forget what you have taught him, and remember it in a negative way, it will be harder to help him in the end.

Take the information in this article to develop a training plan for your puppy. Keep your patience high and your love flowing to a well-behaved dog. You may not master the tips right away, but you surely will in time.
