Specific feeding habits should be established for your dog. A predictable feeding schedule and removing the food promptly will teach them to eat their food quickly. Doing so will encourage your pooch to eat efficiently.

Make sure you remain controlled when rewarding your dog. Once your dog follows your command, reward his behavior. You might be thrilled with that accomplishment, when you are excited, they becomes excited and that cuts down the control in the situation. If you are able to maintain your calm, you can expect your dog to maintain calm too.

Dog Learns

You will have to repeat commands several times before your dog learns it. It can take as many as 50 repetitions of one command before your dog learns it. Use the command over and over again until the dog gets the hint.

Teaching your dog to not tug and pull when on his leash is an important part of his training. This will make sure you are both safe when talking walks.

Limit the duration of training sessions. If you try to focus for a long period of time on one command, your dog will show signs of boredom and begin to get antsy. Training sessions should be limited to about 10 minutes of time or less.

You need to give your dog some exercise every day. When your dog gets adequate exercise, he can be trained more effectively and it can bring out your dog's good behavior. As they say, a healthy dog will respond well to training.

Understand that getting your dog to respond during the times that you tell him or her ‘no' is not helpful. Find positive and supportive ways to train your furry friend. Dog's often don't get the meaning of words like “no.” Each situation should be treated individually, and tailored to each dog.

Stay firm when you are training your dog. Don't just yell at your pooch. Learn how to balance compassion with strictness. This will help develop a strong bond during your training session.

Use your dog's name as many times as you can, this will keep his attention on you. Use his name more when he is a puppy. By the time he is grown, he will automatically give you his attention when you say his name. Chose a name that can easily be distinguished from other words, and that has only one or two syllables.

A spray bottle filled with water is a great deterrent when your dog is misbehaving. This helps show him that you will not tolerate certain behaviors. Afterwards your dog won't do these things anymore.

Don't reward or ignore bad behavior because you want to put a stop to it. This just teaches the dog what it can do and what power it has over you. An example of something to avoid is giving your dog a treat when it is barking.

Do not give up when you are trying to train your dog. Through constant and positive reinforcement, you will be able to train your dog to retain the behaviors you teach them. Realize that training your dog is a daily task, no different than feeding and sheltering it.

Your dog needs the right training to be exceptional. The tips mentioned in this article will show you how to properly train your dog. While not every method works for every owner or dog, hopefully these tips will enable you to train your dog correctly.
