Training Your Dog Is Easy When You Know What To Do!

Cool beans! What is the next step? The right training will make both you and your dog happy. The following tips will tell you what you need to know for effectively training your pooch.

Establish feeding habits for your dog. If your dog has a schedule for his feeding, he will learn when to expect his meals. Soon your dog will be finished with the meal before you are ready to remove the dish.

Choose the right dog crate size if you wish to utilize the crate effectively to train him. Your little puppy will get bigger, remember! Get a crate that is the right size for your dog when it gets older. The dog must have enough room to lie down and turn around without getting crowded.

The first step in puppy training is commanding control. Otherwise, the dog will think that he is in charge and will not respond to your training tactics. On walks with your dog, you should lead him and not the other way around.

Think of a word you can use as a command during training. One good word can act as an appreciated segue from the good behavior to the ultimate reward.

Choose one phrase to use every time you want your dog to do his business. For example, you could use the phrase, “go potty” when you take them outside to help them remember what to do when you go outside and say the command.

You need to give your dog some exercise every day. Being sure they have enough exercise time can ease training efforts and encourage proper behavior from them. A dog who has received plenty of exercise is happier and more responsive.

Try to keep accidents at a minimum when toilet training your dog. Learn to read your dog and anticipate his needs. He could be snuffing, pacing or even whining. Don't put it off when your dog is doing these things. Get out the leash and head for their designated potty area. When he does go, praise him! At some point, he will start asking to go out.

When your dog is displaying unwanted behaviors, use water to spray him. This will help your dog understand that certain behaviors will not be tolerated. Eventually, these behaviors will end and your dog will be well-behaved and play in the right manner.
