Whenever you have to correct your dog, make sure to speak using short and sharp language. Don't rant on and on about how bad your dog is. Say no and let them know what you would rather have them do. Also make sure that the volume of your voice commands their attention and lets them know that you mean business.

Make sure that you use a gradual process when training your dog. Begin with brief sessions and extend them from there. End the session as soon as your dog's attention begins to stray.

Dogs will focus on something and ignore all else unless something breaks that attention. With frequent practice, your dog will begin to focus on you and the signals you are giving him instead of other distractions.

You should not tie up multiple dogs where they can reach each other, no matter how friendly they are. Doing so could cause injuries to the dogs if they become entangled in the chains and attempt to free themselves. A larger dog could cause a tangle so bad that the smaller dog could be choked by the leash.

Multiple repetitions will be necessary for a dog to learn new commands. You might have to repeat the same exercise up to fifty times before your dog remembers it. Continue trying the same command and be patient, your dog will get it.

As you train your dog, be sure to create verbal cues to make your pet know that he is doing what you want it to do. Using an affirmative word can help your dog understand they did their part and it is time for a treat.

Stay away from high end training devices like shock collars. They often do not function properly and their cost is rarely justified. They can cause your dog to be confused about all their behaviors. These methods yield negative results.

Patience is key in canine training. This will cause you not to be frustrated and angry with your dog during this process. Your dog wants to make you happy, but sometimes it just does not understand you.

Never allow your training sessions to run on for too long. When your dog doesn't get bored, they'll be a better training partner. If you want to engage in additional training, allow the dog to have a break in order to get some exercise.

If you invest the time in proper dog training, you will enjoy your pet's company. Right now, you might feel as though your dog may never behave. But if you continue training it, you will eventually see impressive results. If you keep these tips in mind, your puppy training sure to be successful.
