Who Says You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks? Just Follow This Advice.

Many people think only professionals can train dogs well. This is definitely because they do not know how. The key to training dogs is that you have to expand your knowledge on methods and ways you can train your dogs to know how to properly train them. Keep reading this piece and you will acquire many new ideas and tips.

As you work to crate train your dog, it is important to convey the notion that the crate is their home. At meal times always put their bowl of food inside the crate leaving the door open the whole time while they are eating. This will allow your dog to have a positive association with the crate.

Provide your puppy with his own chew toys to alleviate the pain of teething, and try to keep other items out of reach. Put the chew toy in front of it immediately so it learns that this toy is what it should be chewing. Try a frozen washcloth to alleviate the pain of teething for your puppy.

Use consistency when you are crate training your young puppy. If you remove the pup from the crate, see to it that he has the means to go potty. Your puppy will eventually become able to relieve itself less frequently.

When potty training your pup, remember that whatever he eats must come out. Feed your puppy three times regularly each day. Doing so helps you to learn your puppy's schedule.

When giving commands to your body, your tone and volume level should remain the same. This helps your dog to understand when you are in training mode. Good consistent tones also let your dog know when tones are sharp for discipline or for a command that is not punishment.

Clean Accidents

Every puppy in training will make some mistakes in the potty department. Clean accidents up immediately to assist in your training efforts. If you don't clean accidents up quickly, your pet may smell the mess and eliminate in the same spot again. Check any local stores or pet shops for products that are specifically designed to remove the urine smell from a carpet.

Leash-training starts with a loose leash. When a dog gets the chance to explore new sights, sounds and smells on a walk, he often becomes very excitable. Their eagerness and energy may cause them to pull on the leash. The smart owner will deter this behavior by having his pet walk without tension on the leash.

Your training your dog program should incorporate at least a little fun. Keep the sessions between 10-15 minutes, as this is about the attention span of most dogs. Give him varied rewards, and don't be stingy. The more you reward your dog the more he will continue the positive behavior. You and your dog should both enjoy training.

Consistency is one of the most important requirements for effective dog training. Make a list of all your commands, and ensure that anyone who might have to control your dog has this list. Reward your dog for following commands. Do not reward your dog if he doesn't obey. Different people rewarding and punishing different behavior confuses the dog and makes it difficult to learn.

This knowledge should provide you with the confidence to train any dog. Though you have learned some valuable information here, there are always more things to learn. Make every effort to gain any knowledge you can about training your dog.
