Your Dog Will Be Thanking You For These Wonderful Training Your Dog Ideas

Have you thought about getting a dog, but have no idea how to train it? Do you currently own a dog and have been desperately trying to eliminate negative behaviors? This article should be where you begin! Keep reading for a few canine training tips that could help you improve your relationship with your pet.

Rewards are essential to effective training. Knowing when to give him a treat, and how much, is paramount. Unless you administer praise and treats as soon as the dog exhibits the desired behavior, he will not be able to connect the behavior to the treat.

Use a phrase on your puppy to house train him. When you take your puppy outside, say “go potty” to them so they will eventually associate the phrase with going to the bathroom outside.

Keep your tone of voice consistent when training dogs. This lets them know you're serious and that they must obey. This also assists the dog in understanding what the difference is between a tone for a command and the tone for discipline.

Teaching a dog to walk correctly while on its leash is important. This will make sure you are both safe when talking walks.

You need to teach your puppy how to leave an item alone with a simple command such as “leave it.” This will help prevent them from chewing on your furniture or other items, as well as prevent them from having dangerous items in their mouths.

Make sure that both you and your dog enjoy the daily training. A sense of play brings you and your dog together. This bond makes the dog more responsive to your commands and training him easier. Training can be a fun experience, however, getting some enjoyment for yourself and the dog through play is a good thing.

Do not fatten your dog by being mindful of just how many treats he gets in one day. Many people overlook treats when considering the animal's diet, but they certainly add up, especially during active training.

By being consistent you can teach your puppy to “hold it.” If you are home, spend time everyday with your puppy, and take him out every hour or so. When he does his toilet outside, remember to praise him. When he goes inside, don't punish him. Your dog doesn't come out of the womb potty-trained, and it takes time to learn. Yelling or punishing is not helpful. Let the dog outside roughly 15 minutes following food or drink, and also each time he emerges from the crate.

Now that you realize training a dog doesn't have to be a harrowing experience, you are ready to get started. Implement these suggestions now to train your dog to be obedient. Dogs want to be told what to do. They just need a firm hand to show them the way. Get started right away.
